Dr. Sophea Ing is a compassionate and dedicated doctor with special interests in mental health, student health, women’s health, and sexual health. She currently offers gender-affirming hormone therapy to adult patients seeking medical affirmation.

Dr. Ing completed her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Melbourne in 2019, following her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science from the University of Auckland in 2015. She undertook her GP training across Monash Health sites as well as at Myhealth Bayside in Frankston and Mediscreen Clinic in Hawthorn East, gaining broad experience across various specialties. Since completing her GP training in 2025 she has been working part-time at both clinics.

Sexually transmissible infection (STI) screening and treatment

Contraception

  • Implanon NXT ("the rod") insertion and removal

  • I can remove IUDs, but I am not able to insert them

  • DMPA injection (Depo Provera)

  • Combined hormonal contraception:

    • Combined oral contraceptive pills ("the pill")

    • NuvaRing

  • Progesterone-only pills ("mini-pill")

Early medical abortion

Using medications to end an unwanted pregnancy up to 63 days of gestation

🏳️‍⚧️ Gender affirming hormone therapy (GAHT)

  • I prescribe gender affirming hormone therapy to adults (18+) in line with the Australian Standards of Care for Informed Consent Gender-Affirming Hormone Therapy.

  • I am happy to administer testosterone injections if you ever can't get in with your nurse.

  • I also am able to insert estradiol implants.

Cervical screening tests (CST - formerly "pap smears")

  • Self-collection

  • Clinician-collection (speculum examination)

Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP)

I prescribe combination tenofovir disoproxil + emtricitabine for people wishing to reduce their risk of HIV infection.
